FreeCompressor exists because “free online compressor” shouldn't mean “upload your files to a stranger's server.”
Every popular compression site works the same way: you upload your file, their server processes it, you download the result — and you trust them with your screenshots, contracts, family photos and design work. That trade never sat right with us.
Modern browsers are extraordinarily capable. The canvas API, typed arrays and fast JavaScript engines mean image compression can run on your device, at native-like speed, with zero uploads. So that's what we built: a compression suite where privacy isn't a policy — it's an architecture.
What we believe
- Local first. If a job can run in the browser, it must run in the browser.
- Free means free. No accounts, no caps, no watermarks, no “pro” upsell on basic features.
- Fast is a feature. No upload queue will ever beat processing that starts instantly.
- Honest engineering. We tell you exactly what happens to your files — nothing.
